IPSWICH CARIBBEAN ASSOCIATION PROJECT

LAUNCHING 15 NOVEMBER 2024

This exciting new project delves into the rich history and cultural legacy of the Ipswich Caribbean Association building, also know as the ICA or Ipswich International Association, which once stood proudly on Woodbridge Road. Though the centre was demolished in 2012, its impact lives on in the memories of those who cherished it. Through community-centred artworks and heritage resources, we aim to capture and celebrate the stories, experiences, and connections shared by individuals and groups who were part of the ICA’s vibrant community.

This website will also serve as a living archive, not only documenting the centre’s history, programs, and distinctive architecture, but also honouring its vital role in shaping social cohesion and cultural life. We invite those who had a connection with the ICA to share their stories and insights, helping to preserve the spirit of a place that fostered unity, empowerment, and a sense of belonging.

The Ipswich Caribbean Association project is being funded by the Annie Tranmer Charitable Trust and by Historic England’s Everyday Heritage grant.
